Cycle for health rides

Shares

Free, led cycle rides have been established by Erewash Borough Council.

The idea is to give residents the opportunity to be more active – with the weekly rides particularly suitable for beginners and less confident riders.

Organised by the council’s sport and health development team, the hour-and-a-half long rides take place every Wednesday, leaving from West Park Leisure Centre in Long Eaton at 6pm.

The rides are for anyone aged 18 and over and bikes and helmets can be provided if needed.

Those taking part are advised to take a bottle of water with them and to wear suitable clothing.

The rides are free of charge, but cyclists should book beforehand by emailing kevin.hatton@erewash.gov.uk or call 0115 907 2244.

Erewash Borough Council lead member for culture and leisure, Cllr Mike Wallis, said: “We have run these led cycle rides previously and they proved very popular.

“They are fun, sociable and, most importantly, they help to boost confidence and help towards a healthy lifestyle.”
