Saturday 25th – Monday 27th May 2019

An open studio event with over 200 participating artists

Over the next few weeks, artists will be beavering away in their studios, getting ready for the Derbyshire Open Arts spring bank holiday event.

Painters, ceramicists, textile artists, glass makers, jewellers, photographers, printers and many more will be honing their craft to produce works of art to delight the senses.

The event is an opportunity to visit artists and artisans throughout our beautiful county, see them working, and maybe even purchase a work of art to take home.

Whilst some artists group together, hiring village halls etc, the event also provides a wonderful opportunity to track down some of the more ‘off the beaten track’ studio venues and artists, who will be delighted to welcome you and talk about their work.

Many artists will be demonstrating how they create their work and some will be offering workshops and the chance to ‘have a go’ yourself.

Additionally, don’t forget to check out those who offer refreshments, including home-made cakes and even light lunches!

Derbyshire Open Arts participants have venues throughout Derbyshire.

The best way to check out what’s on offer is to visit the website www.derbyshireopenarts.co.uk

Here, you can search for – and save – your favourite artists by genre, location, accessibility, etc.

The website map is interactive, enabling you to create your very own tailor-made trail.

There is a page for each artist and group taking part, and lots more information – including a downloadable brochure.

Derbyshire Open Arts venues are all free to visit.

Many venues are accessible to wheelchairs, but it is best to check with individual venues.

If you would like to keep in touch or receive the Derbyshire Open Arts newsletter please email info@derbyshireopenarts.co.uk to be added to the mailing list.
