‘Women Power’ – Thursday 26th April (7-8.30pm) at Harris & Ross, Wilmslow
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of women having the vote this year, Harris & Ross is putting on an event to celebrate powerful women, and encourage women to put their strength and wellness firmly at the top of the agenda.
Attendees will hear from ‘Career Mum’ Amanda Newman as well as ex-Team GB 800m runner Jenny Meadows.
Their talks will be followed by specialised breakout sessions giving attendees tips and advice on injuries, exercise technique, strength building and alternative therapy options.
Clinic director Jeff Ross said: “We come across lots of mums and women who, mainly through time pressure or having young children, just don’t find the time to look after themselves.”
He explained: “They often pick up back and neck and shoulder problems,” adding: “Unfortunately a lot of these problems start off small but they become bigger if we don’t deal with them.”
The evening will offer an opportunity to learn more about the role of physiotherapy as well as hearing from inspirational women.
Clinic director Jeff Ross – Jeff was formerly head physio to New Zealand Soccer and New Zealand Warriors rugby league, head physio at the Manchester City Academy and then head physio at Sale Sharks before setting up Harris & Ross.
‘Career Mum’ Amanda Newman – Amanda will talk about her experience as a high flying career woman at Shell, and how she is now managing her return to corporate life alongside her new start up ‘Career Mum’, parenting four children and trying to stay fit and strong.
Ex-Team GB athlete Jenny Meadows – Jenny will discuss what it takes to be a female athlete in top flight competition, how she manages her own training and wellness regime, and how she has worked with Harris & Ross over the years.
Break Out Sessions:
Senior physio Emma Farr – Emma will be talking about the sorts of injuries she commonly treats in women, her physio techniques and acupuncture services, as well as running an acupressure workshop to aid pain management plus stress and anxiety relief.
Consultant physio- Suzy Ross – Suzy will take groups through the key stretches to ensure women warm up for sport correctly, the best exercises to build core strength and get back to exercising correctly after having children. Suzy will also be offering expert posture taping.
Podiatrist Thomas Johnson – Thomas will take groups through a gait analysis. Using the Harris & Ross video analysis techniques, attendees will be able to view where their own running technique could be improved for health and performance benefits.
All attendees will receive a Harris & Ross gift bag and discount voucher.
