A new ‘little’ Waitrose outlet has opened in Derby.
The store (full name: ‘Little Waitrose and Partners’) opened its doors for the first time recently as part of the newly rebuilt Shell petrol station in Allestree.
The shop and petrol station is situated on the A6, and will continue to be run by Shell whilst including a selection of Waitrose products.
Around 1,000 product lines will be available – comprising around two thirds from the Waitrose own label ranges, with the remainder consisting of popular household brands.
Products available include ingredients for cooking from scratch – such as fresh meat, sauces, vegetables, pasta and stir fries.
The store will also stock ready meals, pizzas, fruit, vegetables, sandwiches, salads and cheeses as well as store cupboard essentials, cakes and a selection of flowers.
The store will become one of two Waitrose-branded stores in the county.
The nearby Ashbourne store is to close in June, and it’s believed this is set to be replaced by a ‘Bargain Buys’ store.
Waitrose regional manager Andy Woodcock said: “We have taken great pride in being part of the Ashbourne community for the last nine years so the sale of the shop is not something we take lightly, but we have sadly not been able to find a way to make the shop commercially sustainable in the long-term.”
The Ashbourne store’s closure will leave only the Buxton store as a ‘full’ Waitrose branch.
